Provides comprehensive well visits to income-eligible children, infancy to 18 years of age, by offering physical examinations, laboratory testing, vision and hearing testing, and immunizations. Farmworkers 18 years or older who work closely with livestock can receive the Flu Vaccine for FREE by calling (828) 632-9704, option 0, and/or come to the Alexander County Health Department via appointment.

Care Management for At-Risk Children (CMARC) – formerly entitled Care Coordination for Children (CC4C)
(Medicaid & other eligible children)
CMARC is a care management program for children birth to 5 years of age. Children are referred that have, or are at risk for, chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional conditions that may need health or related services for an extended amount of time. Children are also accepted into the program who do not have a medical home or who are exposed to toxic stress. Referrals are made for well visits, immunizations and/or developmental screenings. Information on local resources and programs are offered to families as needed.

The Alexander County Health Department follows the recommended guidelines for immunizations by the ACIP (Advisory Committee of Immunization Practices), the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and the NC Immunization Laws & Rules.

Cost: Routine childhood vaccinations are paid for by federal and state funds if certain criteria is met. This is to encourage parents to protect their children against vaccine-preventable diseases.
