Alexander County Public Health will begin scheduling appointments for the third dose of Covid-19 mRNA (Pfizer or Moderna) vaccines for persons who are moderately to severely immunocompromised on Monday, August 23. To schedule your appointment please call 828-632-9704.
Per CDC guidelines, patients who receive the third dose at this stage must self-attest that you:
Third dose vaccines are required to be the same as your first and second dose unless that vaccine is unavailable at the time. In that case, you may receive the other mRNA vaccine.
There are no recommendations for additional doses of the Jansen/J&J vaccine at this time.
For those who would like a third-dose booster and are not moderately to severely immunocompromised, it is possible that we will be able to offer this option in the fall. Please watch for future announcements. We will keep you informed when/if we have authorization to offer booster doses.
